As a teacher or course supervisor, you'll need tools that enable you to make quick and efficient decisions. All these functions are available in the SMOWL monitoring dashboard.
Where do I find the monitoring dashboard?
The monitoring dashboard is located within the course you're supervising on your platform. To access it, look for the SMOWL tool. Its location may vary depending on the platform:
On Moodle and OpenLMS, you'll find a blue block indicating access to the "Monitoring dashboard"

On Blackboard and Canvas, you can access the panel from the tool available within your course. |
Can't find it yet?
If you're having trouble locating it, try searching for "SMOWL" within your course. On the course page, press Ctrl + F (or Cmd + F if you're on macOS) to open the search bar. Type "SMOWL"
and your browser will highlight the word on the page, making it easier to find.
What is the Monitoring dashboard?
The Monitoring dashboard is your access point to all the tools for monitoring your students.
What does the monitoring dashboard include?
Once we access the panel, we can find:
The Registration panel, which provides information about the status of user registrations in the system.

The results panel, which contains all the information collected from student activities. | |
The activity panel, which allows you to activate and configure SMOWL for various course activities. | |
The live panel, which enables real-time technical tracking of users who are currently undertaking or have completed a monitored activity within the last hour. |
How do you configure an activity?
From the Activity panel, you can select the activity you wish to monitor and tailor it to your needs.
The configuration tools may vary depending on the package contracted by your institution.

Useful information for Administrators
Platform administrators also have an exclusive tool within the monitoring dashboard:
Feature management
This panel allows administrators to configure actions on the platform in bulk:
Teachers can manage: By activating this option, any teacher will be able to enable or disable monitoring for their exams and configure the monitoring settings.
Control de acceso: By activating this option, student access to the exam will be blocked if they do not meet all the marked monitoring requirements.
On Moodle and OpenLMS platforms, the access control option will be managed from the block administration.
Course Log
The administration panel includes a complete log of all changes made within the course, allowing you to track who made what change and when.
